New Member / Long Time Lurker

Hello all. Just signed up and thought I would say hello. Been lurking around here for quite a few years and finally registered. I still have my old '91 Yamaha Waverunner LX 650, that still to this day, runs like new. Kid's are old enough to ride by themselves now, so I've been shopping. The boys get the Yamaha and Dad's getting a NEW one! All of our activities are on Onieda Lake in Upstate NY. Rode several newer models of Ski's and have settled between a 2012 Kawasaki Ultra LX and a 2012 Sea Doo GTX. I'm leaning really hard towards the GTX. Any advise between the two models before I pull the trigger?

    Ride Safe !

Thanks for the welcome beerdart. Just brought home a new 2012 Sea Doo GTX this afternoon. Gonna set it up tomorrow am, then take it out for a nice "break-in" run. Raining out now, so I suppose I'll have a look at the manuals and DVD.

Do your boys have experience riding with other watercraft nearby?

Riding too close to others is a common error when riding as a group, even if the group is only two watercraft.

Ride safe and enjoy your time on the water!

My oldest boy does have the experiance to know better and at 15 does quite well by himself. I allow him "almost a free reign". My youngest is 11 and does not have his safe boaters cert yet. A little too immature and is gaining experiance. He is not allowed out of our small Bay. Most of his rides are with me or his older brother. It sure is fun to go out for a "father - son" rides now that I have two ski's!

After this weekend, I now have 2 whole hours on the GTX! I don't understand though... I rode that thing all day long on Saturday and used a whole tank of gas. Only 2 hours on the clock? Maybe because it was made in Canada and they use metric time ?
