1997 Polaris SLT 700 no spark

Hi All! Ya have a forum newbie here! First post wooowhooo!!!
Been lurking for a while and fiddling with a Polaris SLT 700. It's a 97 model.

I'm trying to figure out why this thing doesn't have any spark before I buy a bunch of parts!

I've already tried disconnecting the Black/Yellow coming from the CDI box. No spark.

Battery is keeping up with 11.5 volts while cranking.

I'm not sure if it has the "update" or not. I also am unsure of the "update" specs.

The CDI box has the number 4010803 on it. Someone with a yellow pen marked threw the 4010803 and wrote 4010448 on it. Also It has a loose (unconnected) black wire coming from the a little plug in on the outside of the container that holds the cdi box, circuit board and what not. The black wire is right next to a tan(might be pink) wire that feeds into the housing box.

I have a fluke 88, and did a little checking on resistance values. I would much rather DVA components but can't find any specs on them.
Resistance I'm getting 6 ohms between purple and black, and 8 ohms between black to grey. Black to ground shows very little resistance. Checking resistance to detremine if a component is good or bad scares the ship out of me.

I can't find any specs on checking the CDI box. Anyone have any ideas on a peak DVA number for the Purple or grey and which is high and low speed exciters or other tips for accurately diagnosing this ignition system?

I think this ski has the "update". Anyone confirm this?

    Ok digging a little further

Looks like it has the update.

Stator checks out OK the best I can tell with the OHM measurements.

Getting infinite purp/red or yellow to ground

Purp/red to yellow getting .9 ohms

    black to purple 6 ohms

Grey to black 8 ohms(this may be a little screwy)

not seeing any way to test CDI box

Still haven't found specs for peak DVA readings.

I've about decided the CDI box is to blame since it has no spark on either one. If it were a hall efect sensor I'm guessing it would only knock out one cylinder?

Any other tests I can do before plopping down the cash for a CDI box?

Only way to test a CDI is to swap it with a known good CDI.

Is the correct part number 4010803, the one they struck threw?

WTF is up with them writing 4010448on it?

Polaris had a habit of reprogramming other models with different specs. The handwritten number is the correct number. You are looking for a 4010448 or a 4010404.

Either will work. Even a 4010449 will work. Less timing, but it will work. None are available new any longer. You can find them on eBay.
