Re: 1996 Polaris slt700 cdi and stator replacement?

I'm looking to find the update kit for above and once I have it was wondering if the motor needs to be pulled to swap the stator out? And if I only go for the 2nd generation (Not Hurricane) upgrade will I have just as stable of cdi and startor and not have to burn premium gas?

    Thanks
    Don

    Welcome to The Hulk!

The motor does not need to be pulled, but it the easiest way to do it. Your call.

None of the stock Polaris 2-stroke ignition systems require premium grade gasoline.

89 octane is suggested for fuel containing ethanol or other oxygenates, but I think lots of guys are running 87 octane gasoline.

That's good to know. What will regular gas do on the hurricane upgrade if there is no ethanol in it. Is it considered a stock upgrade as well or is that getting into a modified class? Just trying to keep the cost of running it down as they sure like fuel.

    Thanks
    Don

The Ignition Update Kits are just kits with the stock timing inside the newer generation ignition system.

The genuine 'Hurricane' Update Kit has slightly more aggressive timing but is not a souped up or race configuration.
