VXR Intake Manifold Upgrade (Ribbon Delete)

I just installed the R&D Manifold Upgrade and I could not believe how restrictive the stock ribbon is. It's so thick and dense that I don't know how any air gets through. The stupid R&D instructions were fused to the packaging from the heat and ripped so I didn't know which direction to put it in but I'm pretty sure I figured it out and put it in correctly. I positioned the tapered end facing the air filter hose. I haven't tried it in the water but has anyone noticed a higher idling with the increased air flow? Next project is the Riva through hull exhaust. Here's some pics...

About 100 -120 higher on the Rpms depending what u use for air intake with this mod. In 3rd pic is how it goes in with nose of ski on your right .

Yeah that's how I installed it. Left side of 3rd pic is inlet manifold side and right side of pic is air filter side. Even with no instructions at the time I was almost positive I had it positioned correctly, glad I was right, thanks for confirming.

I really want the Riva hood scoop one but then I will have to wait until next season because it's mad $$ and there's only like 5 weeks left to ride. It's weird tho, usually the first thing I do(and correct thing to do) to engines is the air intake. Maybe I will try and replace the air box with a k&n I have laying around.

Hehe, I can't wait to hear what you think when you get back from the water That was my favorite ride with the ski, the day I pulled the ribbon and put an air intake on it

Yeah I'm excited to try it out now that the engine can breath easier. I can only imagine how hard it's going to pull now without that blockage in the air system.

Last few days the water has been so calm. The best place to do speed runs that I've found is right under the first bridge on the wantagh parkway when u make a left out of our marina (past the long no wake zone or u can cut around that marsh). The waters almost always flat there and it's long enough to hold WOT for a while.

By the beach we had to stop at to clear our grates when we got stuck in low water that day.
