Looking for my first jetski
i am 17 years old and want to get into stand up jet skiing. does anyone have any advice on what to look for, how much to spend or anything like that? it would be a tremendous help. I have a budget between $800 and $1300. can anyone help me

Try changing the title of this thread. I'm sure most people think you want to buy a starter motor for your 'Ski.
I can't really tell you much about standups. Make sure you get one that runs.

550 - There are plenty out there - used ones. Basically 2 versions, 90 & before and 91 & after (with reed valve & rear exhaust). If you master riding a standup ski on 550, you can ride on any other standup skis. It's narrower, lighter & more agile than 650.
650 - Any year is fine. It's bulkier, heavier, wider and easier to ride than 550. Not as challenging.
Either ski can be bought at $500-$800 depending on the condition. If there are some expensive aftermarket parts (exhaust, ride plate, intake grate, handle pole, etc), it can be close to $1000.
If you have ngough $$, go straight to 750. But try to get 95 and later SXi model that comes with dual carbs.
All Kawi twin standup skis should have minimum 145-150 psi compression at sea level.
