Thread: LRV Problems

A friend brought over a LRV that will not plane off. We installed a new battery in it. Ski idles at a high speed. We tried it in the water, and it shuts down around 3700 rpms. Any help would be nice.

I don't know too much about it but it sounds like a fuel problem. 3700 rpms isn't enough to get it to plane off so it could be fuel filter (easy), the baffle, reeds (more than likely) or the carbs. Does it do better if it sits for say, 5 minues in the water and then you crank it to take off?

I had a seadoo sportster that did the same thing. The neutral safety switch was bad. The boat thought it was in neutral while trying to get on top and the rev limiter would stop it at 3500 rpms. now since you have a thumb throttle and just a reverse lever, your might be thinking its in reverse. Check that out before diggin into the carbs

Check spark plugs first to see if its old or fouled.
