    Fuel sender problem.

I have a 2000 ultra 150. The fuel gauge is reading 7/8 of a tank and will read up to 8/8 but wont go below. I think I need to replace the sender. Do they make this part anymore. Is ebay my only option. Can other years work?

My '99 is stuck on 1/2. I've heard that the floats can stick, most likely due to the crappy ethanol fuel they sell these days.

I'm going to try to shake mine to loosen the floats (riding it didn't seem to help). There are different part numbers for different model years, so you need to get the right one for your year.

Yeah I've had the fuel sender out and it isn't stuck. It reads the same no matter where the sliding float is at. It reads zero if I unplug it.

You can test the gauge with a 10K potentiometer. It has a long time constant, so give it 10 seconds to respond to any changes.

You can test the sending unit with an ohmmeter.
