2011 RXT X 260 Intercooler leak
Did a bunch of work to a buddies 2011 RXT X 260 with only 54 hrs on it. 4" intake, solas 15/22, 160 thermostat, 4mm ET wheel & Spacer, Riva RRFPR & Vtech tune. After all that it just ran like crap & couldn't figure out why. Felt like it was something electronic or the tune. After playing around and then finally the motor getting filled with water I checked the intercooler. With it idling and the hose disconnected from the tb water was gushing out. Really surprised that for such a low hour machine that it could go. Did some reading on here and turns out that many other people have had the same issue. Luckily the motor never hydrauliced cause we were ripping it pretty hard. For anyone else that feels that there machine is not revving properly and kind of missing check there cooler right away. So sad that after this many years Seadoo has to make something else weak to blow motors up.
O and after installed the new cooler it ran like a champ!!! Saw a spike of 78mph on the speedo with 76 all day. 8280 rpm. Gonna try a 15/20 with the 8650 tune and see if it picks up any.

Yes there have been many intercooler leaks on the 2011 models. Lucky mine hasent gone yet, but will be getting the RIVA IC soon.

Yup...hearing about a bunch too. My buddy just bought a 2012 RXT 260. Watching it closely...he doesn't want to mod it yet but I think the Gen 3 will be the first thing

I have posted in a seperate thread about my intercooler letting go after just 15 hrs. Got a call from my local dealer today and he confirmed that the engine was ok and seadoo are warranting a new improved intercooler. Still doesnt help them hold up the rep they have because yhere is no genuine fix for the issue, cos i asked if we can tap a flush point in while the cooler is out, his response was "it will void the warranty on the new intercooler". The only thing to do was try my luck and know that its under warranty lol im heaps reasured with that response.

Do you have to change the whole IC or can just the pressure relief valve be added? Also how do you know when your IC is leaking?

Has anyone figured out exactly where they are failing? i.e. cut one up to look at internals?
Assuming they are failing due to corrosion/thin walling I don't see how a PRV will help.
