X Charger, stock 38 injectors, stock intercooler cool?
I am just about due for a rebuild on my stock charger, 387 hours and it was last rebuilt at 302.. Question is I am wanting to maybe just throw a stock X charger on the ski and maybe over the winter get 42's and an external cooler.. I know I have heard of some people running a stock x charger with a pretty much stock motor and injectors (I do have riva air and exhaust).. Would it be ok to run one on my setup? Whether I do or don't install 42's and an external cooler? Thank you

Def need 42s and you can run it with the stock intercooler, of course with an external you will have more power but it can be done.

still need 42s with that setup....if you add the intercooler then you will also need a regulator

Thanks, I guess I will just stick with a stock charger rebuild for now as 42's, intercooler, and rising rate regulator aren't in the budget at this time.. I'm planning on and hoping to see well over 487 hrs! Maybe next season, just checking but thanks for the advice

all you need with the X, since you have an aftermarket air intake, and stock intercooler...
jerry himself has said a stock RXP, stock intake and stock intercooler, doesnt even need 42's, when you add an X charger.
but when you add the air intake, you need 42's.
when you add the external intercooler you need to add the rrfpr.
so get the X, its almost same cost as a rebuild... and 42's are cheep
way more bang for the buck.
you might need some impelller work though, or an upgrade...

I've always heard an x charger is about as much as a rebuild but an x charger is about 780 while a rebuild is 330 plus 75 to jerry, so it's almost double? I will pm you later today or this evening surferd15.. If I purchase a used x charger I would definitely want one the doesn't need a rebuild ie. <20 hrs or so

the problem is, how will you know for sure that the used charger has less than 20 hours? so buying used and adding a rebuilt will put you to close what a new x-charger will cost. you're better off buying one that needs a rebuilt for cheap, if you can find one. the 42's are the cheapest part of the set-up, so you may as well get them. i'm not saying that there isn't honest people selling low hour x-chargers, but it would always be on the back of my mind.
