1999 GSX Limited 951,Exhaust alarm going off.

I am working on a 1999 GSX Limited. The alarm had been going off and then owner said they saw smoke.I checked the engine compartment and found that the pipe to manifold has melted, and the rave hoses had started to melt. This watercraft has a lot of aftermarket performance parts on it.Pipe,Ignition.
I am not quite sure where to begin.Any advise is appreciated.

......... Temp warning alarm! Cooling issue! check ALL the water supply lines from the jet pump to the Cylinder head- Look for connections - clogs or hose rub leaks. AND check the wear ring too as the water pressure is based on the condition of it.

this engine will be a short timer at best. Make that very clear to the owner. Rig up an air line connection to the flush inlet and pressurize to to 3-4 psi and clamp off various water hoses..this will help you find some leaks, but with the rave hoses melting the engine may have started to melt the bearing cages due to severe heat. Check the water regulator also..that is likely toast.

I have unhooked all the cooling hoses and the only thing that i have found that was totally blocked was the weep hole at the back of the watercraft.i looks like originally there were two holes but someone has disconnected the right side, not used at all.this watercraft also has a inline filter that has sand in it.i cannot get it apart to clean so i am ordering a new one.there was also a kip valve no.149015-0141,12 volt,1/8 orifice.is there anything that i can use inplace of this? Thanks for the info!!!

reads like there have been some cooling system mods.

never heard of a kip valve before..but there seems to be plenty of these electrical water control valves on ebay for the cheap.

so where do the wires coming from this valve lead to?...

    pics really helpful here

The unit appears to have an aftermarket water injection system and the fitting that was the pisser is now the water injection feed..

The one thing that stands out to me as the cause of your overheating is the - sand filled inline water filter..

Check the brass 90 on the head. This is the first place these engines plug up.
