Did she kill my prop?!? Pic goodness attached.

    Hi all,

So, yesterday I made the mistake of letting a "friend of a friend" take a ride on my 97' ZXi 750. Of course, she did exactly what I asked her not to do, that is she rode too close to shore and sucked up some major rocks. And, of course, she rode back to me as fast as she could so I could hear the awful sound my ski was making!

I cleared out the rocks and took it for a ride, but it is cavitating badly out of the hole. Attached is a pic of the prop as it is now.

    So, I need your advice.
    • Is the prop toast?
    • Can I file down the rough edges? Or, would that throw it out of balance?
    • Should I send it in to be rebuilt, or should I spring for an after-market prop?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

    -Barky

Upgrade to an aftermarket impeller, if you've got the money. If not, smooth the edges.

You know what they say about Personal watercraft, right? Don't share your PWC with anyone that you wouldn't share your toothbrush with.

Very true, Steve! I won't be sharing my two PWC's with newbies anytime soon. Of course, she said "sorry" after she had done it, but "sorry" doesn't fix my impeller.

It looks like you have more than one Kawi 750. Any particular aftermarket impeller you would recommend? My ZXi is bone stock, so I wouldn't even know what to look for in an impeller.

    Thanks!

No idea. I just picked up the first one for my nephew to ride. The second one was offered to me for $300, including trailer, so I couldn't turn it down. I just picked up the others to fix and sell, but our local lakes have dried up and there's no market for them.

Ha! The problem is- she's a college kid and doesn't have the money. Hmmm. Maybe I should ask her to make it up to me another way...
