    gpr 1300 powerstack

I still have my cat on my otherwise stock 1300. i can put in a Riva "stack" filter which is used in the stock intake,or if this does not really do much, wait until the cat goes and replace with a d ring and put on the Riva or R&D flame arrestor ( which they say requires a d ring ). Any thoughts ?

if you want that poor thing to last. need to get rid of the cat/con now before it creates a big problem.

when the cat goes i understand it is not a "catastrophe" but a loss of top end speed that gives a lot of warning before it goes. is that not true ?

nope that's not true. i will tell you what happen to my nephew. the cat/con broke and somehow a piece came back into the first cylinder and made a big mess. in another situation that i saw the excess of heat front a clogged cat/con melt a piston.
so it i was you i would wait till some like that happen. its a very cheap preventive repair. i saw that you got a machine head for the ski. you need to get a dplate before you run the engine with the more comp.

this will be a cold weather project and i do have a d plate to put on. thanks for telling me about the need to do both. at this time this is the only ski i have since my gsxl has been in the shop all summer with repeated top end issues, and this from only putting on a white pipe ( which is supposed to be a no brainer ). i want the gsxl to be a functional ski before i start messing around with the gp, which has been dead reliable. i hope a milled head and a d ring will not make it unreliable. can you re-use the exhaust gaskets when you put on the d ring.
