Check your Groco Strainer bowls for cracking
Had a bad experience this weekend testing and tuning our turbo setup. I was racing our 05 RXP turbo against a new 2012 RXP-X when after a few ass kickings to the 2012 X I had a long steady BEEEEEEEP and "Hi-Temp" signal on the dash. Thought it was just exhaust temps after the long stretches of throttle wide open at 17psi so I just slowed down and let the ski idle. Well the ski went into limp mode I noticed the back end dragging quite a bit. Pulled up the seat to find the hull half filled with water. Took my best effort to find a place to beach the ski as it was in limp mode and dragging like crazy filling with water. Just barely made it to shore before the ski almost completely sank. Shut down the ski and removed the upper seat and cowling and started bailing the water out. As i was bailing, i noticed something in the bottom of my ski. It was the plastic bowl off the strainer. Bloody thing broke off and allowed the pump to start filling the hull. Wouldnt matter how big of a bilge pump you have, it wouldnt have been able to process the amount of water pumped in my the jet pump. Long story short, check your strainer bowls frequently for cracks etc. Real shitty experience from something thats supposed to be a procautionary practice.
Good news is our kit is complete and running strong. Power is incredable. 17psi scored us a 86.3mph gps. Not bad for one of our first runs. More updates and pics to come on that as well.

think i might wanna have a spare on hand. check out this rebranded filter available at home depot for a garden hose, identical to the groco besides the inlet/outlet.

After mine came back from the dealer in the spring...I noticed a lot of cracking in the bowl.
Picked up a new one @ eastern marine for around $30. Same thing as my old Groco.

That sucks, glad you found the problem. I didn't know but west marine sells the basket as well as other parts for decent prices, they also carry another brand just like the groco, just for other guys if they have the same problem. What speeds were you hitting and how old is the groco?

The bowl on the home depot one did not mate up well with my graco (switched o rings and all). Water was leaking and spraying out through the threads.. Now I use it when I flush the ski out
