GP1300r charging system: how to find out which part is bad?

So my 2003 GP1300r is not charging the battery, which is basically new. I hooked up a volt meter while it was running and got like 11.5 volts from the battery. So the battery isn't charging, and now I want to fix it. I just don't like throwing parts at a problem until I know for sure what is wrong. So is there a way to test the stator and/or regulator to find out which part is bad? Ski has 100 hours on it, so seems like to me the stator should last longer than that. Anyways, I just want to know what the proper way to troubleshoot the problem is so I can narrow it down to what I need to replace. Cheers!!

Which connectors? The ones on the battery look good. How do I even find this voltage regulator?

Maybe someone has the service manual for the '03 GP1300r? If so, please PM me, I will give you my email address where you could send it.

Pull off the seat locate the black box at the rear of the ski. on the right side if you were sitting on the ski of the black box you will find a small louvered box with green red and black wires coming out of it if i remember the colors right. unplug the connector and check for corrosion.

likely the regulator, but an investigation is a good way to get familiar with the system

if you sniff around you can find some manual pages of wiring diagrams in some other threads.

Yeah I checked the regulator plug, looked clean... cleaned it anyways. That wasn't it. Is there any way to test the regulator itself? The parts shop up the street has a new one, but I don't know if they would take it back if I plugged it in and it didn't work, so I hate to throw away 180 dollars.

On the other side of the black box ( left if you where sitting ) there are a few connectors, check these, specially the one with 5 wires
I had a fried pin on green wire ( lighting coil )

Were are you located i may can save you some money if it turns out to be the regulator.
you can ohm out the alt. by connecting an ohm meter to the 2 green wires on the regulator plug. but you need to find out the Resistance .
