A Little 250X Help/Advise
I have a 08 250X in the shop & customer complaint was he would ride 20 minutes then the ski would shut off & would not restart because the battery was dead.....
Got it fired up & the motor sounds good (a little surging at idle) so took it to the water & drove it about 10 minutes & when coming back into the no wake zone I let off the throttle & it stalled, hit the start button & it was like a dead battery (barely turning over) so I figured the pump bearings must be bad.
Pulled the pump & the bearings look & feel great,no water intrusion or rusty bearings like I thought....
Bad carrier bearing ????
It will turn over again & start once it sits a couple hours.
Any advise will be helpfull. Thanx

Thats my next thought, this has been to severel people who have failed to indentify what is happening....
Something is locking up & keeping the motor from turning over but frees up after a couple hours.

I loosened up the tensioner & could spin the sc freely so I looked at the tensioner brg & it was rusty & rough so I bought a new bearing & pulley figuring that would be my problem & checked the sc oil & added 2 oz.
Took it to the water today & it ran good for about 15 minutes & while reversing away from the dock it stalled & when I hit the start button it was not turning over freely like a low battery or something dragging the motor down like a binding bearing somewhere or a bad starter.....
Got home & tried starting it & it was still dragging so I removed the tension pulley to see if it was the sc but it still dragged when trying to start, so I removed the whole engine to check the driveline & it spins as free as can be with no roughness what so ever.
I looked at the sc & it appears to be brand new as it was replaced a while ago by another shop.
I am at a loss as to what is causing this motor to "bind up" once its warm. Any suggestions from here is greatly appreciated

I havent done anything to the motor except remove it.
After looking at the parts diagram I am thinking the bearing in the rear cover is shot.....
Does this cover just unbolt & pull off ??

It's not the bearings in the rear cover. You ether have a bad starter week battery or shot motor.
Check end float as waz suggested use a screwdriver or pry bar between the case and the coupled see if the coupler moves in and out with allot of play of so u have motor damage.

I checked the end float like you said & its tight no play.
Curious why you say its not the rear bearing ?? Battery is new & fully charged the starter works well when cold & starts the ski no problem when cold 10-15 minutes of riding & it stalls out & wont restart because something is binding it up or a bad starter.....
All power wire & grounds are in excellent condition & the charging system is working.
This ski has been a problem child since it was new & has been worked on by severel dealers to get to what I have now,a ski that runs good when running but wont turn over once warm after it sits it will restart.
