    Lost 1000 rpm. where did they go

    My dad has a 2012 FX cruiser with less than 50 hrs. From last weekend to this one it lost 1000 rpm and around 5 mph. I checked the hull, no problems. Any ideas.

    Is it the SHO or the HO?

    How does the pump and prop look? If you sucked something up you could easily lose rpms. Low rpm mode maybe?

    My 2012 HO cruiser has lost a little performance just from sand/mud. No damage to the impeller, but the wear ring has light scratches all around now. Can't believe that little difference in clearance would cause loss in speed and takeoff, but it does. Lost 2 mph on top and cavitates more on launch. Sucks.

    But this would not cause rpm drop...

    That's true, I haven't checked the rpm's since the sand incident. Not sure the factory tach is a reliable source for rpms though.

    Its th HO, in the same conditions. I'll check the wear ring.

    If the wear ring is really bad you will be all over the rev limiter... Ask me how I know

    You said 50 hours? Did you have the oil and filter changed recently? Even on the 1.8's, the oil level can affect rpm's and performance, If overfilled.
