supercharger shaft let go today...
I needed an excuse to up the boost, not quite what i had in mind.
So the impeller, shaft and front housing are toast. Rear housing of the supercharger looks ok.
Trying pick a plan, do i
Buy a used charger assembly and rebuild/new shaft/upgrade impeller?
Buy the rd watercooled front housing and rebuild what i have?
What shaft is the best these days?? Which bearings?? (theres a couple options)
Im looking at either the rd c5 wheel or etech 15.5 wheel, heard lots of surge comes with the etech wheel.
Havent heard any reviews on any of the latest rd impellers. Have to be able to run 91 octane so i dont want more than 16psi.
Im at work for 20 days now so id like to get some parts ordered up for my days off. As far as the engine
Side, plan on removing and cleaning intake manifold/pipes and intercooler. The nut never made it past the impeller. Tane
But there are shavings...waiting to see how bad the manifold is before making a call on the rest. Hoping the i tercooler caught a lot of it.
Excuse the terrible formatting, phone doesnt like the message page and i cant read
Passed the edge of my screen....

I'd go with the version 3 SC and shaft. Nothing negative about the newest version yet.
I'm sure Jerry can walk you through all the most current part numbers.
We're all hoping the issue has been addressed.
Apparently the Riva damper is is out right now due the the SC rebuild. Even they're recommending the newest clutch assembly, but without the damper.

I would say get the et wheel verses the c5.
Also, the surge port on the watercooled housing is worth the $800 for the housing.

...Funny how everyone overlays their own priority when they read a post.

Gordon's right. ET LBwheel is best designed available for the boost level. Your R2 should work ok, but if you haven't got your IFR gauge on right now, you'll want reinstall it until you sure of the ARFs. If you're lean to about 12.1 to12.2 @ WOT, (and that concerns you like it did me..) don't just jump on the R3. I think wasted my money by not first considering the larger injectors paired with the R8.Last edited by Kelly_A; 08-20-2012 at 07:48 PM.

i just installed the riva dampner and appropriate clutch in july. Have an afr gauge and was gonna give the
R2 a try first. Surge ports would be nice if the etech wheel does have surge issues.

If it's in your budget, get one of the Vortec or Engine Tech supercharges, or the Riva H1 wheel/housing.
