    Another Gus13Letter journey - FZR

Well, here goes my new adventure with my new to me ski....

Considering I couldnt live without a ski and the wife was pissed I sold the other one and told me that I needed to buy another one, I ventured out and after driving everyone around me absolutely crazy about what to get, how to get it, what to do to it, blah, blah, blah... I decided I wanted an FZR. Then it was new, used....... Oh, all the options and $$.

I came across one on eBay in Miami that looked to be just what I wanted and worked out a deal. The ski was modified and I didnt know him, nor did anyone I knew. The guy was very nice and seemed up front and honest about everything, but everyone these days seems to always try to scam someone out of something. Even with some work issues, after some coaxing to go at least see the ski, I decided that is what I was going to do. I woke up at 2:45am Sunday morning and drove to Miami arriving at 7:30am where we met up. He was very nice and everything was as described so I immediately knew I was going to buy the ski if it checked out and it did. The ski was pristine condition. Not even one spec of corrosion. I thought I took care of my stiff, but this was over the top. I want to definitely keep it this way for sure!!

The ski is an 09 FZR built by ChiChi's Performance who I must say did a very nice job on it. The air holes in the hood area look like they were there from the factory. The side air scoops the same thing. Very nice work. The ski was sitting on a Triton trailer which looks like new as well.

On my way home I stopped off at the Peace river and rode if for about an hour and must say, it rides awesome. Never riding an FZR before, I was very impressed with it overall. With a full tank of gas, still getting used to the ski, sitting on the seat it ran an 82.0 MPH on GPS. Which again seems on par to what the previous owner told me. He said during summer it runs 85 and in cooler months 87 MPH.

    It has the following-

    • Riva E1 Wheel with R&D shaft and bearings.
    • Custom intercooler with HKS BOV, custom water line for intercooler with higher flow.
    • R&D RRFPR
    • R&D R2 Reflash
    • R&D Intake grate
    • Riva Cam Gears
    • R&D multiport
    • Stock VX plate
    • Solas Impeller
    • Riva Rear Exhaust
    • Riva Air Intake and Ring
    • Custom Stock waterbox
    • AEM A/F gauge
    • JetTrim seat cover

Awesome Gus. Hard to find those well taken care of skis, especially when your surrounded by saltwater. Did it carve the peace river very well? That seamless lean in turning makes for a sweet flat water ride.

Definitely. It did, but I didnt get in it to hard considering it was my first time riding an FZR. I know go figure, buy a ski based on what you think you will like... I liked the GPR and this just seemed to be the bigger version, so I went for it.

Thanks. Yeah, that is also part of what sold me on it to. He had the grab handle, glove box lid, and side pieces all painted to match. Someone that pays that much attention to detail must have taken care of it.

Thanks, I looked and wanted another Jeep for about 4 years. I was glad I couldnt decide cause in 2012 they came out with the 3.6L with 285 HP from the previous 3.8L 202 HP.

One thing I am suprised that it doesnt have is the pump tunnel re enforcement.

FZRs come with the factory band aids stuck to the inside of the tunnel with assembly glue.. Not as good a a Coco reinforcement and should be updated at anything over 85 IMO. Some have cracked at around that speed.
