The oil was changed at the end of last season. We checked the dipstick and the tank was almost full. So since its not overfilled anymore I assume the problem will not happen again. But I'm still confused on how it could get to the air filter?

If you look at the air intake hose there's a small tube that comes out of it that connects to the crank case. If the oil is overfilled it can travel from the crank case through the tube and into the air filter.

Thanks,
That's where I was confused. I just couldn't figure out how it got to the air filter in the first place.

I never saw oil in my intake even before installing the engine breather (I doubt you ever will unless the oil is overfilled) but it probably helps a little with performance because if you look at the small k&n on the breather while the engine is running you will see exhaust fumes emitting from it. Some of this probably gets sucked into the air filter anyway but at least it's not going directly into the intake tube anymore.

I wonder if it makes a diff since the exhaust fumes are feeding into the hull and the air intake is in the hull as well. It's hard to know how much fresh air the air intake really gets.
I went ahead and changed the oil at 50 hours last night. Hard to imagine we've only had these things 3 months and have 50 hours on them already, but we're having a blast on them.

Losing the front storage is a big problem for me and is the reason why I haven't bought it yet. I know there's still a small amount of room in the front but basically all that fits is the fire extinguisher and the spare tools. They argue that you can get extra storage under the seat with their storage bin but who wants to pull up the seat to get stuff while on the water espcially with passengers.
