Is the VXR/VXS the only Yamaha with the high compression N/A engine in it?

Is the VXR/VXS the only Yamaha with the high compression N/A engine in it? I was wonder if any other models had this engine setup as well.

The HO engines have 11:1 compression, correct? What do the SHO engines have, 9:1?

Can the NA engine be retrofited with the SC? I know I'm kind of answering my own question by knowing the compression ratio is 11:1 as detonation and knock would be too big of an issue but is it physically possible? It looks like it runs off a different oil pump, could the the NA oil pump be changed out to allow a blower install?

It will be a little bit slower but a much better ride. The FX is a really good ski. I think if it is the comfort you are looking for you will be much more satisfied. For the speed you are on the right ski. In your situation and with the club rides I would go the route of the FX, Not sure where you are going with all of this though. Jennifer has an FX with the older smaller engine and we have ridden two up on it for quite a few miles. It is peppy but not any faster than my LX. With the new 1800 I would not even try to get on side of one with my LX. Talk to some of the people in the club. they have it.

Thanks. I'm not looking at it for me. A neighbor was asking for recommendation on what ski to get for them. And it made me wonder if there was another ski that had the same engine as mine, but with a more comfortable ride for them. That way if they needed help on the ski, I could assist. Sounds like the FX HO might be the one for them. I don't want no cushy ski, I'm not that old yet

Well for that I would highly recommend the FX HO. That is the ski you described in the Yamaha lineup.
