    Tau Ceti Trim Tabs

    Form an earlier Post;

"There are tabs for 97/98 and tabs for 98/99 they are not the same.
    P/N YAGP-TA02 fit the 99."

I bought a new set of Tau Ceti tabs of e-bay for my 97 gp1200. The label on the box says YAGP-TA02 and that they are for the 97/98. The documentation inside the box says they are for a 98. They don't very similar to the stock ones I just took off today.

Do I have to right ones ? If not I am going to make copies of the old ones out of aluminum and just sell these.

Anyone know what I have ?

    Thanks.

    Dan

Bill posted drawing of the newer ones in tat post.
If they match the drawings then you have the wrong ones.

Early 98 and late 98 were different Thanks Yami! The 97-98 were short the 98-99 are longer fore to aft.

The drawing is of the late model ones it is also in a link in my Sig if you go to pdf file

I took a look at the .pdf file, I will compare to that print when I get home. Looks like someone else works on Solidworks also !

The tabs just seem odd when I hold them up to the boat. Is the Wide/narrow ends swapped from the stock configuration ?

I will probably just sell them if anyone wants them. They are brand new, never installed and I paid $75 for them. Let me know.

I can build my own using the mill at work afterhours, I was just trying to save time.

Dan I have the model of this if you would like Metal140 Eric is another Solidworks guy looks like the old shool section here could generate some serious documentation on this stuff.

Dan I assume the old ones you have are plastic.
I ran my 97 with no tabs when I bought it and I liked it like that.
I later put trim tabs on and could not feel any real difference,I did not have a tach or GPS when I first got the 97 but running with no tabs might improve handling.

It may be a good idea to seal the bolt holes and try no tabs.
You already have the old tabs off this would be the easiest time to try no tabs.
Then when you get the right ones put them on and record the diferent speed and rpm.

Yea, the funny part is my degree is in physics, I do mechanical engineering/design and a lot of my own "documentation". Some of the machine shops like to remind me that the only drafting course I ever took was 25 years ago in highschool shop class on a board !!!
