what brand CB16CL-B batteries do you use and maintenance

batteries for 2strokes are quite expensive and i have problems with dead batteries after a few months.i use odyssey dry cell and yuasa batts but they dont last long either.so i would also like to ask how you guys maintain your batteries for it to last longer.would getting a battery tender plus 12 volts charger prolong the life of pwc batteries.because i only use battery car chargers to charge my batteries.

you shouldn't be having problems when using an AGM battery like an odyessy, unles you are trying to charge it with a car charger. Perhaps this is your problem. An AGM battery requires an AGM compliant battery charger!

You should also check your skis charging system, if you are overcharging due to a bad regulator, that will kill a battery in no time at all.

A pretty big discussion on Ody and DEKA AGM batteries on the forum here. Do a quick search for more then you might care to read in one sitting

Small batteries need to use a small 2A charger.. A Battery tender is a good idea if the boat sits for any lenght of time.. The CB brand batteries are a knock of the a well known Brand Battery.. In a personal watercraft the way the battery is constructed says a lot for the longivity of the battery.. When you get your internals knocked around a few hundred time an hour and see how long you last.. The plates begin to break and crack from the pounding.. As much as an arguement it will create - Yuasa is the battery of choice for the OEM's and there is a reason for it.. And a CB16 is not a yausa battery.. I opted for a heavy duty (ATV) style battery which is the yausa YTX20

Cold cranking amps or CCA is all we care about. Deka are one of the highest in this regard they are robust for the surf and discharge at a very slow rate.
Our surf boats we only use Deka ETX16L.They take a beating as well.

Don't use a battery tender on an AGM battery. Simply disconnect it if you aren't going to use the ski for any length of time.

As long as you have a recent battery tender, they're perfectly fine for use on AGM batteries. I agree that it's usually not necessary since AGM batteries have lower self-discharge rates. But it won't hurt anything and it will keep the battery 100% charged.
