Lets change it up!! Post the craziest thing (legal) you've done riding your ski

Since this forum has turned into nothing but tech talk...yes I know that's what it's for, but I for one am getting a little tired of "Help, my ski won't run" and "how do I remove my spray" threads every day...so for a change of pace: What's the craziest (legal) thing you've done on your ski?? It can be an insane wave jump, throwing a passenger off the back during a spinout, etc.

Me? Doing a speed run at around 75 mph, checking the PET tech to see if carb adjustments were working, glancing down at the fuel pressure gauge to see where it was at (6 psi, right where it should be at WOT). Basically doing everything but looking ahead. Now let me preface by saying the lake was empty so I wasn't endangering others...but I look up and see I am about 400 feet or so from some docks/boats. At speed. So I let off a little, and hit it hard left, barely avoiding death by wood and metal. Hardest turn ever and about lost it, but I survived. Super dumb on my part, and now when I test I make sure to keep a better eye on the lake in front of me.

2nd place, my brother and I used to take turns riding on the front of my Super Jet (not legal I know, but this was years ago). It was a trick to get on, basically the "passenger" would climb onto the front, the driver would start the engine while the passenger pulled himself up onto the hood. Then he would spin around as the SJ planed, and ride like a cowboy, or laying down. The best was when I was driving, I would gun it to get it bouncing, making it very uncomfortable for my brother and his "boys". And he returned the favor. We only did this a few times, but it was pretty fun, especially when I killed the engine and my brother would slide off the side into the water. Again we never did this when it was busy on the lake...we weren't that stupid

Last weekend on Lake Michigan a friend and me decided to try and out run a thunderstorm by riding north rather than going back to shore. Luckily we gout out of the storm and just watched it go by right over downtown Milwaukee

We made it about 7 miles north to get out of it. We were actually sitting in sunlight.

Doing 35 and just doing a really hard turn so the jetski spins in place, that is always fun

You name it, standing on my seat, riding on my handlebars, climbing on the nose then shooting a fountain, wake jumping too slose to a boat, throwing it into a hard left then standing on the left side while power sliding, all great fun things that you're not supposed to do.

i have ride the very next day after a hurricane, very fun and very dangerous too. i have few stitches on my forehead, hitting the handle bars.
other than that, just stupid things, like missing my turn in a very narrow canal and fly of the water with the ski.landing in someone else back yard.

    dumb stuff

Well, done most of the stuff previous mentioned. Riding on the nose while holding the bars and throttle behind your back is a good one, easy way to run over yourself in a fall. Almost any freestyle moves are pretty dangerous, at least the ones I've tried, subbing, flipping, etc. Two skiis jumping a wake while coming toward each other so you only miss a collision by a foot or two, looks cool, very risky.

Riding in Oregon Inlet, NC at all! Tide moves about 15-20 knots all the time, lots of rip current and eddies, over 40 feet deep.

Riding with seat off to see if increased air flow makes ski faster...probably not illegal, but easy to injury yourself or maybe sink the ski.

I commonly witness, but don't participate in riding while drinking! Lots of implications, obviously illegal almost everywhere.

I once hit my chin on the handlepole pad on my SJ, coming down from a big jump and one of my hands slipped off the grip. Went in, put a band aid on it...Nice small scar there for the memories.
Also, I've lost not one, but TWO pair of glasses (not sunglasses, prescription glasses) in our lake. Why you ask? B/C contacts bother my eyes after a while, and I almost never fall off.
1st time, I was running (pre modded) on my GPR late in the season and turned my head to see where my Dad was at, at around 60 mph. The glasses were a bit loose fitting and off they went when the wind caught them. Had to make an emergency run into Wal-Mart (it was a Saturday afternoon thank God) and get a trial pair of contacts to last me until Monday...

2nd time, just last month. I am riding during the week in the evening, racing a buddy on his RXT. After whooping him (yay!!) I went to make a turn after slowing from WOT. At maybe 35-40, forgetting we'd shimmed the tabs, thus changing the handling of the boat (much sharper handling)...she bit hard right and tossed me off. First time in years I've fallen off my ski by accident. Came up not realizing I'd been wearing my glasses. Luckily had some contacts back at the lake cottage. I was due for a new set anyway as the lenses were getting kinda worn and scratched, but still....

Lesson: Contacts only from now on, or one of those "froggy" bands to hold glasses on (though a spill at top speed would still probably rip them off), so contacts from now on!
