The Ultimate offshore ultra X project.

Kawsaki hit a home run when it came to the the improved pump and engine on the ultra 300x as well as reliability mods but Many people have speculated and commented on the very different handling of the ultra 300x some good some Bad. And many had speculated on what caused the twitchy nature or different handling of thee 300 mostly from previous ultra owners. Ideas ranged From the increased pump size to the massive intake grate and profile to even a completely different hull. Well we now have conclusive answers and here they are ok not just yet A little background

I was given the opportunity by a friend that wanted to change his 300 into a 250-300 hybrid taking everything from his 300 and retrofitting it into the 250x hull. In this case a brand new 2008 250x hull in hopes to restoring that awesome feeling for offshore riding. The project started by removing everything from the ultra 300x engine wiring harnesses trim pump etc I will post a complete list at the bottom on what needs to be changed for anyone wanting to know what's involved to change.
We then went through the process of measuring different items making new mounting holes for some small items and installing everything into the 250x hull.
Well today was the day we got to test the ski. Conditions where perfect 3ft at 4-6 seconds making for a good test of the rough water handling. Upon getting on the ski and idling out it was apparent things where very 250 like with the ski plowing the water. out past the break water and blast off. The ski was a rocket with the awesome 300 pump and power it only took mere seconds to know the ski was back and did not retain any of the twitch from the 300. We blasted through the rough water and the ski just was as stable as could be when it became airborne it flew straight as an arrow and landed with ease. When plowing through big stuff at speed there was no tinny feeling it had the solid ultra feel. I was very happy with the results as was my friend. So it can now be concluded its not the pump change it's not the intake grate it's not the increased power rather it's the 300 hull that produces the different feel over the 250/260 hull. What does it all mean.? Well nothing at all the 300 in stock form is an awesome machine and the new 300 is a cc machine and still a great rough water machine. But if you have the want and would like the ultimate offshore machine that is as stable as past skis but has the added benefits of the 300 platform this conversion may be for you. Thanks to all those that helped with the process.
I would love to see a 300rr or 300cc boat with the current 300 hull and a 300 with the old hull.250/260 style. Kawi are you listening Click image for larger version.

It good to see the result was worth the effort , its been a myth for awhile now............. and for those of use that have had many HR's on a early hull , its nice to know were we COULD all end up if offshore is your passion.

I know 3 cents a min is expensive but you'll live lol. And thanks for the help as well as others that made the project possible. My buddy is stoked on his new ski. And it was a fun project.

I will say this in rough water it's the same speed as my 300 right at 69mph. Top speed. I think there will be a negligible difference in top speed maybe 1-2 mph max. On super super flat water.

remember the 250 hull is heavier !!!!!!!!!

considering 74 was doable on the 250x platform it WILL be on a conversion ski
