    Great Lakes vs. Ocean Riding?

Not sure if this is the correct forum so sorry if it is not.

Bought a new 07' Ultra 250X in 2009 and have put 175 trouble free hours on it and really enjoyed on inland lakes and rivers.

I just brought it out to Lake MI in Chicago this week and wow! That is some different riding. Besides getting absolutely soaked it really beats the h*** out of you. So I was wondering how different is the ocean than Great Lakes riding for those of you that have done both?
And is there a trick or speed to staying somewhat dry? I need to get some goggles too

I never rode the Great Lakes but ride ocean only. Get the goggles, bring a towel in a dry bag and dry off every time you stop. I always wear a wetsuit, 1.5 mm. I love it, for me, it beats running up and down a lake or a river. Start doing squats to build up the quads. I don't feel like I'm riding if i'm not getting wet. Enjoy!

I ride lake michigan in milwaukee all the time. Its a whole different world from inland lakes and rivers. Also has its own unique safety challenges. Cold water and big waves. But tons of fun. Try riding it on a ski that's considerably smaller and lighter than what you ride and tell me about getting beat up lol. I would guess its not too much different than ocean riding....minus the salt.
