    Idle increases when turning handlebars

    Hello,

When driving at idle, if I turn the steering wheel all the way to the right the idle increases by 500rpm. If doesn't do it when I turn left. I noticed this happening after I installed the fizzle intercooler on my fzr. Is this normal?

    Thanks,

    Lou

It's gotta be something with the throttle cable. Turn it all the way to the right while looking for movement at where it connects to the throttle body.

If not it almost sounds like the off throttle steering feature is kicking in.

It is the throttle cable. If I put my bars all the way down to the low position, it idles higher, and in the middle position, it goes up in turns. As long as I keep the bars all the way up, which is the way I like them anyway, it works right. I haven't tried looking to see if it's hanging up somewhere yet. I also have a Riva throttle, so at first, I thought that might have something to do with it.

You can adjust your throttle play, if your throttle cable is adjusted to tight, it will rev the engine up a little bit when turning the handle bars because there isn't enough throttle free play, so it's actually pulling the throttle cable when turning the bars.

I will follow the cable this weekend and see if something is hitting it since this started happening after the intercooler install. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the cable goes all the way to the throttle body.

No, the cable does not go all the way to the throttle body. It goes to a bulkhead on the left side of the ski. If you take the white cover off in the front storage compartment, it's easily accessible

Listen to this guy. It's a safety feature.
