    Angry Broken Venturi / Nozlle

    Hello Guys!

I broke my Venturi / Nozzle for second time! I have the RXT-X RS 2009 mod with about 350 hp running on supercharger. All I wanted was to gain some top speed by changing my stock venturi (87mm) to Riva Pro Series (with 83 mm ring), I broke that one in 1 hour.

Then, I got a stock RXT Venturi (83mm also) and I broke that one in 5 minutes in four places! It take all my steering and reverse system at the bottom of the sea! Only thing extra I got back there is a Pump Wedge 2-degree.. Note that both of this Venturis was about 2-3 years old, so what ? Have this happen to anyone else?? Demmm...

Mine did the same thing with a wedge. I removed my wedge and no more problems. I lost a little speed, but I like the way the ski feels too.

At what speed did this happen? Did you torque the bolts or guess the torque?

The 83mm nozzle is slightly longer than the stock 87mm nozzle, & combined with a wedge adds more length, or "leverage".

I noticed on my 2012 Rxp-x that it looks like the end top of the nozzle is rubbing on something...maybe the ibr? Maybe with the wedge it is rubbing more and snapping off?

This happen in the first test! When I tried to start the Ski from zero with FULL throttle! The Bolts were fine.

Whew....glad you weren't at speed......no steering. The nozzle was most likely cracked/weakened in the prior run.

I guess I shouldn't tell you I have been running 4.5* of wedge for years without a problem on a stock RXP 83mm nozzle. Maybe something is not fitting up right and stressing the nozzle to cause it the break all the time.

Best speed on my 08 RXPX is 88.5mph on GPS. I am making a little power.
