'92 sl650...is the primer bulb stock or a hokey add-on?
Here's a pic of one of my '92 sl650's showing the fuel primer bulb, I'm wondering if these were stock on the skis. Reason I wonder is that on both my skis they cause a flooded condition almost every time I use them, even with just 1 or 2 pumps, and I've seen other posts about going with a primer or just the stock choke, so that makes me wonder Also it seems that the '92s didn't have a fuel/water separator or fuel filter but one of my skis has both and the other just the separator so obviously the previous owner did some fuel system upgrades.....at least that's what I'm thinking....anyone know on the primer bulbs? I should add, it always floods when I prime first then use the choke, and sometimes without even using the choke.

Primer bulb was stock on the very early models, I think.
Flooding suggests the carbs are not working properly. Have they been rebuilt using genuine Mikuni kits? Pop-off pressure checked?

Thanks K, no on the carb rebuilds, that's my winter project since it's too cold here to ride now, but both skis need carb work so I'm sure you're right and that's probably exactly what's going on. I had a feeling about that anyway

I have a '93 650 that I bought new and it had the bulb. It got hard and cracked years ago and I took it out. As indicated before, if the carbs are working correctly, it should start easily, usually without the choke.

Polaris identifies the bulb as original, but does not indicate a fuel/water separator.
