    gas tank pickup tube.

On the polaris slth 700 red engine is it possible to pull the pickup tube slash sending unit out while the gas tank is still installed? As this would be the only thing left that I can check. Is there a screen on the pickup tube or is it wide open?

Tube is open. Pulling it out wont really change anything. I would blow through the fuel inlet line, with the gas cap off to see if it flows ok. I dont think you can get it out without moving the tank, which won't move much with the engine in.

What I have done as a test is connect a clear fuel hose to the supply nipple and clamped off the return fuel fitting. Then I connected a modest source of compressed air to the fuel tank vent nipple.

With very low PSI applied the fuel should flow smoothly out the clear fuel line. Put the loose end of the hose in a fuel container so that the end is below the liquid surface.

What you do NOT want to see is any air bubbles in the fuel flow, just clear gasoline flowing through the hose (after the initial flow stabilizes).

Note: Do NOT over pressurize the fuel tank or you will no longer have an intact fuel tank!
