Oil change help
I was going to change the oil on my 2007 250X this coming weekend but just discovered my manual is 3 hours away at the cabin. It has been a couple of years since I have done this myself and I can't remember how much oil to put in with (and without) a filter change. I did everything by the book (manual) so am feeling lost without it.
I'm hoping someone can give me a quick rundown on the procedure.
Specifically should I warm up the engine a bit before changing?
How much oil does it take? I think a 4 litre container was always more than enough.
Procedure to check the oil?
I know, I sound like a complete Noob but I really have done this myself. I'm just drawing a blank.
Thanks for any, and all input. Flame away.

Holds total about 5 quarts with filter. If you change without the filter it should be just over 4 quarts. This is what most people on here are doing afaik. I just changed mine yesterday ironically. I also went with a 20W 50 vs. a 10W 40 as my viscosity went down to a 10 weight after 29 hours due to the fuel dilution.

Glad you replied dmk, I would have only bought 4. I'll stick to the 10W 40 as we don't put a lot of hours on our ski. It has been 2 years since the last oil change but in that time we have only put on about 15 hours.
Thanks for your input.
