How frequent are supercharger failures on SeaDoos these days?

How frequent are supercharger failures on SeaDoos these days?

Do they fail on the water anymore since they went to the metal washers back in 2008?

If they fail now, what are the causes?

Does it drop pieces into the engine like in the early years?

I haven't heard of any failing unless you go well past the old 100 hour interval.

Yes they still fail not as frequent and the results are the same complete engine flush after you recover the pieces.

supposedly, with the latest kits from SD, the service interval was raised to 200 hours...

And of course the california class action lawsuit settlement has SD scampering to prove their engineers can solve some problems.

Still plenty of fun to go around however as there are legions of Supercharged doo's with the "old stuff" still in there.

    What year were the skis?

I've got over 260 hours on my red RXT with no problems. I rebuild the SC every 80-90 hours. My Black RXT had 165 hours on it with no trouble. While the my RXP-X's manual states 200 hours as the SC interval, there's no way in hell I'd wait till 200 hours. I'll probably rebuild it right at 100 hrs.

On a side note, I don't run any mods. I'd love to have more speed but I get better peace of mind in reliability by keeping the skis stock.

The 08 gold metal washers can fail if the slip goes too low. There are I think atleast three different gold washers before the black ones came out. I think a better question is has where been much failure on a stock 2010 and up skis. When the 08 washers fail it can be a bigger mess than ceramic some times.

My stock 08 washers were changed at 109 hours and still hit 70 mph stock on GPS. Only have 165 now on the ski though. None of the people I ride with had any issues with and rebuild at 100 hours. And we ride more than 99% of the people here and in ocean/rough bay conditions (Just rode from NJ to OCMD).

That's interesting. So there were the 2004-2007 ceramics, then 2008-2009 metals, then the 2010 to current different metal? I didn't know the 08 washers could fail worse than the ceramics.
