    300X can't get past 71mph @ 7,620rpms

I have been using the R&D SCOM and R&D grate since last year. My best speeds have been around 72.5mph @ 7,720rpms during May and 71mph during August was the norm. We recently added the R&D ride plate and a Solas 14/21. In this configuration with a full tank of fuel, the best that I have seen was 71.8mph at 7,680rpms... but that was on my first run only. On the next run I made a few minutes later, the best I saw was 70.5mph @ 7,610rpms. I am starting to think that I might have a problem with my intercooler? We pulled the ski out of the water and checked all the hoses and they were tight.

A few weeks ago my dealer made a few runs with another 300X and he got a solid 74.2mph... this ski had a Dustin Farthing ride plate, a stock grate and the washer mod. I have to say the my ski accelerates much better with the Solas 14/21 than with the stock prop. I am thinking about selling my R&D setup and going with the Dustin Farthing setup. Any ideas?

    TNX,

    Phil

Every ski is different clean your intercooler first as well. 74 + is questionable from the one your dealer rode.

Cleaning the IC doesnt do that much good.

How many hours on your ski?
300x rings are known to leak after a while...

If my dealer says he rode the ski at 74.2 then I believe him.... anyone else I might question. Our GPSs always yield the exact same numbers to the tenth of a mph. I think the 300X with the DF ride plate must have had some other work done to it that the owner did not tell my dealer. My speed is probably in line with the rpms I am turning. The big question is, "Why am I not turning 7,900rpms+ with the 14/21... everyone else apparently is?"

Who's everybody because 77-7800 is the norm with 14/21 most don't even turn 7900 with stock prop boat set up affects rpm as well . Like I said earlier clean your intercooler if you have checked all your hoses and done all the fresh air mods. @30 hrs it's time if you have not done so.

I generally run in the 7,600s! I haven't really hit the 77-7800s consistently yet. You mentioned "all the fresh air mods." Can you plz detail this. Maybe this is what I am missing.

Although my ski is ridden hard, race only.

Are you saying that your ski ran 8,150 when new/stock?
