ZXI 1100 impeller came loose help !!

    Hey guys ,
Have a 99 ZXI 1100 , had no speed , so removed the jet pump and the impeller was loose ( off the threads ). Chewed up the impeller and grooved the ring .What would cause the impeller to loosen up ? I would assume is was not tight enough ?? Checked the play in the pump and driveshaft bearings , found none .
As I have no vise , took the impeller to local shop to have them install the new one . Is there anything that would cause the impeller to to this ? Is there anyway to repair the groove in he jet pump ?

I've seen it happen a few times on Kawis for some reason. Use a little red loc-tite and tighten the snot out of it.
