Top speed and fun factor for SLX780?

I have found another inexpensive local ski.

This one is a 95 SLX780. Course one of the cylinders is nuked, but it looks like this uses the same engine as all my SLT780s.

So how fast does one of these go?

Is it more playful than my SLTs?

Probably not worth the effort, and I am short on cash, but thought I would ask. I wonder why the manual doesn't list top speeds?

The manual says it is 100 lbs lighter than my SLTs...and they do 50mph on the GPS. What does a 20% reduction in weight buy?

Also, will a 780cc motor fit in a 750 hull?

    Thanks!

    Here's my input/opinion:

Is it more playful than my SLTs?
I would say, "Yes" and a different kind of playful. You will notice a complete difference.

Because it's a secret?...lol...they go as fast as they can.

    More air time.

Also, will a 780cc motor fit in a 750 hull?
    Yup. Right in.

Yes, it's the same engine. (although it may have OP FA's instead)

They do around 52-54 MPH in flat water

More playful than the SLT? More nimble.... The aggressive sponsons will not allow you to do donuts as easily as the SLT, but it won't wash out in a hard turn as easy either.

Speeds vary according to altitude and conditions.

780 fits in a SLT 750 hull, but the exhaust pipe gets very tight.

In all my searching and reading about the 750->780 swap I never stumbled across that thread. Reading it now! Thanks

Thanks! Not enough difference to make it worth it then.

    On to other projects!

I say take two of those 780 motors, find a nice run about open bow project hull, and stick em in there.......? Or how about a Jet-toon......

Jet-toon idea is already being discussed among my group of nut-jobs.

Just buy a ski with a domestic triple in it. That will put a big grin on your face.

PWI magazine got 56mph out the 95 SLX, I rode one for a month when my SLT went down, with a 185lb driver, the last gallon of fuel & in the superman postition I was radared at 58mph on glass water. If nothing else buy it for the extra parts for your others, you can't have to many extra parts!
