Anyone ever put an outboard on an empty hull?

I was just thinking there is probably enough room in a spare SLT hull to cut it out some and bolt a seat in there. Like a little powerboat with an outboard on the back.

    Seen anything like that?

I have seen photos of such things with exposed propellers. Scary stuff, in my view.

I agree, that's an accident waiting to happen... Maybe with a VERY sturdy cage around the prop? And make sure the kill switch is attached and functioning.

Not to get all technical, but one of the unique traits of a PWC is that you ride ON it, not IN it. To do a conversion like that would turn it TECHNICALLY into a boat. Once you are a boat, you have a new list of things to comply with according to most boating laws including capacity plates, throwable PFDs, etc.

That being said, I did see a video on youtube of a guy who turned a PWC into an outboard ~ 25 HP if I remember...... Looked pretty scary.....

Hmmm...yes I suppose it would be a problem with a change in status...in vs on.

Anyone ever done an electric ski? I am trying to think of fun things to do with a spare hull. Something for the kiddies maybe, like a low hp electric motor running the pump?

Go electric, install Radio Control, and take the kids for a ride! I have an 8' freighter I built from scratch that runs on electric power. Hmm... I think a conversion may be in order!

They were made for a short time....Late 80's "Fun Boat." I have seen one in person driving around.

Size: 5.9 KB It would be safer with a jet pump on it, like this one. Can you imagine a v8 outboard. but it would sink the ski. Talk about wally gator it.

Put the outboard under the seat, and cut a hole for the shaft to go through the hull, and make it basically a mid-prop
