epoxy only to repair deep scratch? or can i use polyester?

ive got a small scratch/skag on the hull side, which needs bit more than gelcoat,

can anybody tell me if i can use polyester glassfibre in there?

the reason i ask, is on a polaris hull i had, i had to use expoxy based products, as the polyester would always come "un bonded" in time.

you have to sand the scratch and wipe it with acetone for the polyester resin to bond to the old stuff,
you can use boaters fiberglass finishing resin, with wax, so it dries hard with no tac,
when its dry, wet sand with 150 grit, then 400 grit, then 600 grit, then buff smooth,
