What is the best Exhaust head pipe or complete OEM one to fit.
Or do I try and a Coffman or similar

Everything but the stock oem pipe requires major changes to get fitted and tuned. Fastest would be Factory Pipe twins. Major changes to get this setup installed and tuned. Coffman is down from there, still requiring ignition changes and carb jetting. Way down at the bottom is the R&D lower pipe section. Not much gains if any compared to a well tuned stock setup withcut head, rejetted carbs and open flame arrestors. Usually need prop repitched to get rpms up to take advantage of any increase in performance. But its chrome plated!

The 97.5 gsxl pipe is a good alternative that doesn't effect reliability. Run good fuel, advance the ignition to 2 on the programmer, rinnaldi reeds and tweak the prop to keep it under the limiter.
Jetting changes are zero if you already have aftermarket filters with the oem pipe..
    This will bring it alive.

Wouldnt advancing the ignition to 2 on programer depend where the stock setting is already? If originally set at program number 8, then changing to program 2 you would be advancing a total of 7 degrees. A little much for pump gas I would think. I normally go to three degrees advance over the programed setting. So if crankcase is stamped with a 1 and confirmed, then change to program code 3 for a total of three degrees of static advance.
