    Procedure for fuel injector removal

I have a 2004 RXP and need to pull out the 38# injectors, and replace them with the 42# injectors. I looked in the "How to" threads but did not
find anything. I suspect it is an easy procedure but can someone give a brief description on how to do this?

It's very simple, I recall un-bolting two bolts and pull out the fuel rail. Just pop out the injectors. After putting in the 42lb injectors, you need to torque the bolts back in. I don't have to torque settings or what loctite you need to use but someone will chime in hopefully.

Relieve the pressure on the fuel system. (green cap on fuel line and depress the button with a small screw driver)

    Remove the electrical connectors

Pry out the injector retainer clips with a flathead screwdriver

Remove the two E8 size torx bolts on the fuel rail.

Lift up fuel rail and remove injectors.

I don't retorque the fuel rail bolts or put loc tite on them. Just snug will be fine

Have a towel handy under the fuel rail for any excess fuel that drips, and I wouldnt recommend smoking while doing this...

Fyi, you can put the clips on the new injectors before you snap the injectors into the fuel rail. When I changed mine there were no instructions and I'm going wtf, how am I going to get the clips back on?

RXP Steve... you are exactly right about having a rag handy... a bit too late for me though since I did it yesterday. I pulled the first injector off the fuel rail, and gas ran into the engine compartment. I did quikly block it off with my thumb as I strained to reach for a rag!!!
