    MR-1 engine overtemp / overheat

Great site you guys have here. I thought I would offer something that might help a Yamaha brother in need. I don't have a Waverunner but my 212X does have two Waverunner engines.
After chasing an intermittant overheat on my starboard engine for over a year I finally found it. The Y fitting located in the cooling line between the jet pump and the engine has plastic flash in it from an incorrect molding process. This restricts the flow of cooling water. This is an easy thing to check if you have a problem with your MR-1 HO engine. Remove the fitting and insert a 7/16" drill and give it a tap. The flash will pop out.
Hope this helps you guys.Click image for larger version.
