2001 xlt 1200 power valves
2001 xlt 1200 -revs good on trailer -but wont rev past mid range in water -the power valves are not staying open when reved on the trailer -they move freely when moved by hand -checked under the covers -not trbl found -ski has not been sitting long and has allways had treated fuel in it -they cycle when ski is shut off -pump is clear -any ideas-it has a riva d plate and exhaust bypass -was running fine earlier this year -any ideas?

Check the returns in the carbs. They are small and clog. I chased a problem for few weeks last summer and thats what it was. Sounds similarvto your situation.

- Do a compression check... what are the numbers?
- Do you have a strong spark on each wire?
- Did this just start happening? A swapped cable on the PV motor will do this too. (opening when should be closing, vice versa).
On the trailer, start the motor for a few seconds, then off. The PV servo should cycle. Is this what you mean with "-they cycle when ski is shut off"?
