    Jet ski painting

What should a paint job on a jet ski cost? There is a guy here that post a picture of his jet ski that is just jet black and it looks awesome. No decals, no trim color, just pure black. It looks like a stealth bomber. I cant ask him because he is from Greece and his prices and ours might not match.

Also, would it need a special type of paint or a car body shop could do it?

A body shop can easily do it,I would recommend using a base coat /clear coat type of paint( they use a matting agent to male the clear dull).a clear coat would give you the best uv protection and most durable finish

    Jet ski painting

I did mine myself. A good prep job and good quailty single stage is all you need.

That looks great. What I had in mind was more of a flat/dull black paint with out any of the red. Here is the picture of the jet ski that I had in mind.

    Jet ski painting

    Thanks.
Yea i was originally going to go flat but decided against it. It looks cool but if it ever gets scratched repair is next to impossible id expect to pay 700-1000$. For a good job.

I didnt think of that, the flat paint is more difficult to repair then a glossy one?
As far as you doing the paint job, are you a professional or have some experience in painting? Also, how difficult is it to do the prep work to get the paint job done? That seems to be a expensive part of it from what I've been told. I've been quoted $600-800 and most say its because of the prep work, so if I could prep it myself, perhaps I could save $300-400.
    BTW.
I am planning to do this to a 05 waverunner gp800r, lots of yellow and decals.

What are the laws in your state regarding the visibility of the registration numbers and stickers? Just because that might kinda ruin the effect.

Good question, I dont know. Do the registration numbers have to be black?
I suppose if it doesnt have to be I could have red registration numbers but that would defeat the purpose a little

In NY they are required to be a contrasting color to the background, so a cop that wanted to would be able to prosecute a paint job such as the one you pointed out.

Most states usually stick with the coast guard regulations on the registration numbers which is 3" letters in a contrasting color and there has to be a space between the letters and numbers.
