    RXP-X burned out cylinder

My 2008 RXP-X just burned out a cylinder last month. Was riding fine then just stopped.
Took it in to my local boat/PWC service shop and turns out that one of the cylinders is badly pitted. So I have it apart now in 25 pieces in the shop, but not sure what to do with it.

Hopefully I can find another RXP-X with a crashed body with a good running 4TEC engine.

If anyone has any ideas - please let me know. I might consider selling it to someone who can use it or wants a project to work on.

    Thanks,
    WebmasterRXP

Has this machine been modified? Looks like that cylinder was ran lean. Before just replacing the engine I would investigate what caused this. You could have issues with the injectors or other fueling problems.

    Pitted ...lol
Your piston is melted like from a bad injector ie not enough fuel
Good luck finding a used motor... there are some in the want adds
Your boat is junk without a motor ...do you trust your mechanic to rebuild your motor
You must have some faith in him or you would not let him jerk out the motor

I would just rebuild it with some cp pistons....not sure I would let the dealer touch it. You may or may not be able to keep it stock bore. Hard to tell in the pic if that will clean up or not. Whats modified on your ski? What octane fuel? I have never burned up #2 it has always been #1 or #3.
