What kind of impeller are you using? How much does the boat weigh?

Have you looked at the internal filter inside the carb? Changed fuel filter?

Did you use the 650 ignition box? I don't know what timing changes there might be. I'd also look into the fuel system for blockage.

I can't believe that would only weight 240 pounds. The engine, pump, and exhaust would weigh close to that. With all that wetted area, you won't get much speed with that small an engine.

i took the plugs out and had a look to see what the spark was like, one would jump a spark about 8-10mm from end of plug to earth and the other would only jump it about 2-3mm, i then pulled the cap off each to see if they jumped the spark equal distance, they did, pushed the cap back on same problem, i have now removed the old blue caps and replaced them with crimp on ones, i also extended the wire out about 6mm so the spark plug now has direct contact with lead, i guess time on the water will tell

i did a compression test today, its running at 90/95 psi, i tired to copper coat the head gasket but made no difference, can you just replace the rings or will it need pistons as well?

    Cheers Ben

i have purchased a used CDI unit complete but cannot get a spark, its in a boat so i am not using a fuel, oil level indicators, i have tried using another ignition coil but still no luck, it use to work (poorly) on the old 650 wiring so I purchased a CDI unit thinking that may solve the problem, i have soldered the wires from the magneto (the plug was cut to try it going on the old set up) its earthed to battery and engine.

could some please point me in the right direction i am at a lost where to go from here.

I have a repair book for kawasaki watercraft that says most problems regarding no spark are involving the stator....the book didnt list resistance numbers so after some research I came up with some numbers to compare mine to.

    are these correct?

    blue/green=540 ohms
    red/purple=450 ohms
    brown/brown=2 ohms

    these are my readings

    blue/green=580 ohms
    red/purple=344 ohms
    brown/brown=0

Im pretty sure its toast. Is my stator the only thing thats bad or am in for more? Is it worth it to repair mine or replace it? Who makes a good one besides kawasaki?
