    2012 FX SHO Cruiser info...

OK folks. A good friend bought this ski and I have a few questionns as I will help keep him informed and such on his new ski.

    1. Break in. Any thing needed to know here?

    2. Buck. Is it an issue with this ski? If so which grate is good for ALL conditions/water. I know some work better flat.rough but best all-around?

    3. Maintenance/care. Anything unusual? Tips as far as Yamaha specific type care.

    4. SC. Anything needed to know here?

This guy has been a seasonal rider for years. Now that he has an ocean liner I intend to make him a year - round H20 addict. He really isn't interested in performance mods yet. Just maintaining his investment.
The buck is a biggie to me. He doesn't know about this yet so if it could be an issue on this ski I'd like to advise hime to buy a grate before he got hurled.

Thank you guys in advance and have a good one.

Reason asked is in heading of thread in this section I see FZS/FZR/Sho buck. Tells me some have had an issue.
(edit, I read through the thread and does not seem to be a SHO issue.)

    Needs a BOV?

Thank you both for the info.

Just follow the book on the break in and maintenance. If your running stock boost and rpm don't even worry about the BOV.

This Hull is absolutley 100% stable at all speeds in any water. The only "Bucks" he will notice are all the "extra ones in his wallet" from owning and operating this Ski

    JB,

My buddy Jason the one who you met with me at Catalina is buying one just like yours this weekend!
    SHO club is expanding

He wanted to buy a 300X bad but after seeing all the engine failures, he backed out...

As you know we ride Dana Point to Catalina and we ride WOT most of the time, we needed something reliable....

Let's go riding in couple of weeks once he is ready for some Avalon dock scratches lol

    nashvegas,

You live on the water buddy. I ride a lot and through out the year but the most I got was 200 hours/year, you are crazier than me...

And you should tell about your 500+ hour SHO that you sold....

Last question, (I think). Do you guys switch to snythetic oil after break in. I have heard the SHO will go 50 hours between changes, (more like an N/A ski) and would probably (my opinion) benefit from synthetic if that is the case.
Or are there specific properties to look out for due to SC lubrication?

Have had pretty good luck running yamalube. That would be my recommendation.

Captain, how's that GPS mount holding up?
