    Pump shoe seal

    Hey guys just started to do this gp1200r, the screws wont come loose even after heating them up with a torch should there be any sealant around it from the factory?????????????? I thing it may have been done by the previous owner as i just found out there a solas screw in there.....so should i leave it be? and continue to install the grate?

    Really need to do the seal and pump tunnel reinforcement at the same time while upgrading to the 04 and up shoe brackets at the very least. Tons of articles on it here. What part of the country are you located?

    Just keep trying, get a bolt extractor just in case a screw breaks. What else you have done?

    You should get rid of the old style 1 piece inserts and go with the later model ones as Duke stated. Just grab the top of the bronze insert with a vise grip, and either unscrew the bolts from the bottom, or just let them break off so you can get the shoe out, and just discard the old inserts. Go with the 04+ style and new bolts (if needed). I would recommend updating the ride plate inserts too.

    Old inserts, replaced with the 2004 and new bolts also ....done shoe pump seal done riva intake grate done, thanks for the advises guys
