    96 SL700- compression problem?

Ok so I had my 96 sl700 out a few weeks ago, its been running rich but my thought was better then lean so i didnt mess with adjustments and at the same time it was running real good... anyways i took it off the water, flushed and put away... I went to ride last weekend and now it starts and idles rough(both cyclinders firing) but will not rev up at all. Heated the plugs, tried new ones, and then i decided to check the compression. Readings come out as around 115 on one and 109 on the other... is this too low to run right? I know its not good but I was hoping to run this motor as long as I can, should I look into other areas?

    thanks alot guys

    Jared

    thanks again

no it's not to low and what type of gauge did you check it with the cheaper ones are usaully off and show lower compression #'s

It just stays at an idle(no guage) but will not increase at all with throttle. Bogs out if i open it too much or i can choke it a little and it will keep at idle rpm even with throttle wide open(just extra few spitting out). Maybe carbs need adjust to a little more lean setting? maybe something with the reed valves?

As far as the "not revving",That model uses a buzzer under the handle bar pad as a warning/when in limp mode.
The 96 700 come with pretty low compression, your readings are OK for a used engine.

ok sorry i should have added this is the electrical system from a 99slh... i do not have a working gauge for it, would it have a limp mode as well that would read on the gauge im guessing yes? and could that result in no revving? As far as for the compression #s thanks for letting me know.

It seems some of the 700 update kits lately had timing problems.
