Slipping when trying to accelerate(after a idle/no wake zone), Then slams into gear??

1st ride since SC Rebuild. But this isn't the 1st time it has slipped when idle for a few mins. Since new, it has probably happened 4 or 5 times. But its very rare. Maybe once a season.

Cruising @ 5k rpm for about 10-15mins. Pulled into a narrow canal/no wake zone and idle for a few mins. Then I slowly applied throttle but noticed that engine noise was elevated than usual(Rattling, clunking, humming) 2k rpm,3k rpm(felt like almost like it wasnt in gear, Slipping) then once about 3.5-4k it stops slipping and just clunks into gear and hooks up fine. What would cause this? I doubt its my SC being that it just got Rebuilt.

The driveshaft splines and prop are bad. Pull the pump.

Did it do it just the once or every time from low RMP to high? If only once you may have sucked something up into the intake and it was caught on the prop, then broke loose. Ie a plastic bag or alike.

Always from idle to high(accelerationg RPM). I am pretty sure it wasnt grass/debris that blocked the intake grate.

Does it sound like its cavitating? My cottage is on a small channel that really weedie and it will make it hard to get up on plane. Pull the pump to be safe but could just be sucking up weeds.

Had one once with all engine mounts / fixings that broke free and it was just sometimes able to touch on the splines then 10 minutes later it would not, then the engine would slip back and make contact again. Check engine mounts, if not pull the pump etc and check.

Those are good thoughts too. You should inspect the engine mounts, check for debris, etc. I have no idea how you ride your ski and what you do with it.

Check your carbon seal. Sounds like when its not under moderate to extreme suction it may be pulling away and drawing air. When the seal finally seats, then it will hook up again.
