    timing gear tooth damage, shit.

started up and ran my ski for the first time, rebuilt head, pto oiler mod etc.
how ever timing gear bolts werent loctighted due to running out of loctighted, and i was doing just a basic make sure shes not going to spring leaks everywhere test.
gave it a quick rev and it made a tick tick sound so i pulled the key maybe 1 second after the sound... anyway one timing gearbolt sheared off, dropped the head of the bolt down into the bottom timing gear.
bolt has few marks on it, however my main issue is the damage to the tooth on the lower timing gear - how fucked am i? basically missing the top part of the lower timing tooth, im hoping to god that the timing gear isnt stuck to the crank and i need a new crank as a result - basically full rebuild if i have to split the cases.

advice would be great, other then go get loctight you idiot.
    cheers

The gear is pressed on. Can be changed over but ya gotta strip it down. I'm a bit surprised it sheared a bolt off. Did you use new bolts? Torque them?

hmm thats a relief i guess, ball to stripping it. nah reused the old ones, did them up tight but not crazy, stupid move in hindsight i even wrote a note on the rocker cover that i had to loctight them and torque to spec.
any ideas where to get a replacement? cant see anything on greenhulk parts website? might be one for les crook

post a pic of the tooth, if its just the tip you can run it but it will have to be smoothed off a little.

The gear is not listed separately but try contacting Jerry. You could try pick up a damaged crank cheap and use that gear.
A decent machine shop should be able to press the gear off and new one on but SDC will def be able to help you out and all said and done might be the most time and cost effective option.
