    SLTX engine swap!

Some of you may have seen my previous post about breaking a rod in my 1998 SLTX 1050. I also want to thank everyone who gave me info on the thread and messaged me some engine info.

Anyway, I ended up buying a 1996 SLTX 1050. It was a steal; it's in really excellent shape; most importantly, the engine and carbs are working perfectly on it. I am going to swap the engine out of it into my 98, and had a few questions regarding the engine swap.

Are the 96 and 98 1050 engines identical? So could I say, use my 98 carbs on it without issue?

Could I use the plumbing in my 98 with the 96 engine (fuel, water, oil)?

Any tips or special instructions I need to know about doing the swap, other than getting the pump square with the engine?

Anything you guys would recommend servicing with the engine out? (Block off kit? Pump driveline bearing? Etc...?)

    Thanks!!!

If the '96 is in excellent shape and the engine and carbs are working perfectly then leave it alone and ride it while you take your time fixing the '98.

I agree with Tony. Run the 96 and still fix the 98 and have 2 skis

The 96 is a much better looking ski in my opinion, the carbs may be jetted a little different. The 96's did have some carb issues(stumbling & loading up) which were worked out by 97.
