anybody ever split the camchain with a tool, then put it back together and used it?

can i get away with doing this? as ive done this and im not sure it was a good idea (engine not built up yet)

i split the chain to remove the head (i didnt have a manual at the time - didnt realise i could have just taken cam gear off)

what should i do? new chain also mean i will have to crack off the con-rod big ends. can i re-use those screws.?

The OEM dealer fix for faulty cam chains was to install one with a master link - on this forum somewhere is the procedure (recall) - I think you should be ok - but with my luck who knows?

nope i think i know where this is going

what i did do though, was to close up any slack in the sides of the link, (so the pin was sticking out as much as possible either side of the link)

i made sure the link was "free" and used a proper cam chain seperator tool.

but, if the feeling is to swap out for a new..... then i will...

    can you re-use con-rod bolts???
